I always saving parting beads when in good condition and it costs less than replacing, which is about half the time.
Making Parting Beads
To get a nice press fit I use vernier calipers to measure the old beads to the nearest .01" and make the new ones at the table saw to match at the same tolerance. Nice press fit every time.
For one-offs I keep a small supply of slightly varying sizes. That supply is usually left-overs, I always make a couple extra when I have to make some.
For an easy installation bevel the two back arrises with sandpaper.
